Fall Season Update

Article By: Niamh Lambert Fremont Rush Topics Editor
The fall season has begun and with that comes new goals and expectations for the Fremont Rush family. Our Technical Director, Eddie Hernandez, shared with me today his strategies for providing the club with a successful fall season on the pitch.

To start off, Fremont Rush has hired new coaches to guide players through the season. These coaches all enthusiastically represent all eleven of Rush’s core values, and work to instill these ideas into players, not only making them great players on the pitch, but positive members of the community.  The coaches provide players with challenging and exciting drills at practice to keep players engaged, help improve their individual skills, and most importantly learn to love the game.

“The coaches we have brought in can really take these teams above and beyond, making connections with our players and helping them develop their passion for the game.”

Fremont Rush has also shifted the focus of practices since the season has kicked off. Coaches are running practices heavily focused on tactics. Players are also furthering their skills in positioning and understanding language used on the field. Eddie opened up about what exactly coaches are teaching players this fall.

“When the season started out over the summer, there were a lot more Covid restrictions so we focused heavily on developing the players' technical abilities. Now as guidelines start to loosen up, we're putting a huge emphasis on tactics. Our Director of Mythology, Hugo Perez, sends us a lesson plan each month containing new topics to develop players' abilities. Recently we have been focused on building out of the back and into the middle third, and coming up we will be focused on finishing in the final third of the field.”

Eddie has been working hard to ensure players can have the best season possible, all while making connections with their teammates and coaches. He is at the pitch every night helping out teams of all ages so they can be the best team possible.

“It’s a dream finally being back out here on the pitch with so many different players. My hope is that everybody, from rec to our oldest level of comp, is enjoying their soccer, and come away from this season with positive memories they can look back on.”

Good luck to all the teams competing this fall! Go Rush!!
