California’s First Ever Technology Cup

This weekend, the Bay Area will hold its FIRST post-pandemic soccer tournament, and it will take place right here in Fremont at Central Park! Fremont and San Jose Rush Soccer are teaming together to bring on the California Technology Cup! Over the last six months, the team has been meeting to ensure that each player and their family receive the best possible level of play and experience. This historic event will be attended by teams from Reno, Los Angeles, and the surrounding area.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to support Fremont businesses and help our local community even more. We have players coming in from all around the Bay Area region and as far as Reno. We anticipate over 5,000 people to attend.” Fremont Rush Executive Director Fernando Colmenare says.

The tournament will be a two-day event in which participants from around the state will fight for first place. On Saturday, teams will participate in an attempt to win as many games as possible in preparation for Sunday’s knockout event. They will be divided into brackets depending on the previous day's results, however only the winning teams will advance to the finals. Each age group's winning team will get a trophy!

This is an extra special opportunity for our local Rush players as they have had to travel far and

wide to places such as Vegas or Arizona just to play. This weekend however, they’ll have a home field advantage, surrounded by family and friends.

Our coaches have been working nonstop for the past several weeks to get their players ready for the upcoming weekend. I met with two of our Fremont coaches, Ali Gedikli, Enrique “Queeks” Tovar, and (SJ coach if available), to get an idea of what they've been working on in practice.

“This is my boys first 11v11 tournament so we’ve been really working on getting used to a big field. I’ve worked on individual development, on and off the ball as well.” - Coach Queeks (Fremont Rush)

“Our practice has been really focused on two elements, building from the back and finishing in the final third. Along with that we’ve worked on a lot of high intensity training so we’re fit and ready to go.” - Coach Ali Gedikli (Fremont Rush)

"We’ve made it a habit at Rush to get out and travel and play the best teams to give our players the best recruiting opportunities, it's awesome to see that happen within your own backyard!" - Coach Emannuel Dimithe (San Jose Rush)

The excitement has been strong both on and off the field this week as our RUSH players prepare, in hopes of taking home that first place title.

“I can’t wait to play! Tournaments have so many games in one weekend and it’s so fun! I love when we get to play in them.” -Ruhi Shaik (2011 Fremont Rush girls)

Good luck to all those competing this weekend! You've all put in the time and work, and now it's your turn to shine at California's First College Showcase & Technology Cup!
